REEDSVILLE FIRST RESPONDERS CELEBRATE
TWENTIETH HALLOWEEN DANCE
For twenty years, the Reedsville First Responders have brought the community together for one night of good music, dancing, fun and fellowship at the First Responder Halloween Dance. The dance falls on the last Saturday of October every year and takes place at the dance hall in Reedsville’s Firemen’s Park. The Reedsville rescue squad prides themselves on this fundraiser each year. The first responders answer over 100 calls every year. This team of nine members covers a large service area and look to these fundraising opportunities to cover most of their expenses for the emergent care of the community.
The First Responders appreciate the support of corporate and family donations throughout the year. This generosity supports the purchase of new equipment, mandatory training and supplies. The First Responders work closely with the community and with each other to coordinate any needs that might arise. “The First Responders have always been close and work together. If it is working on the Firemen’s picnic or a tragic accident, we work together well” stated Maureen Glasow, secretary of the squad. Melanie Hills, president of the rescue team mentioned “we have such a vast variety of calls from a simple playground scare to a fatality – at times we really need to lean on each other to go forward after a call”
Celebrating the Twentieth Annual First Responder Dance is proof of support from a great community. Amazing raffle prizes and cash donations help increase the prizes on our raffle tickets and decrease the costs for the dance. This year’s dance will be on Saturday, October 25, 2014 at Reedsville Firemen’s Park on Park Street in Reedsville. There is NO cover charge and music and dancing to the music of Al Schreiber and DJ Main Connection will be from 8:30 to 12:30. Raffle tickets can be purchased in advance from any Reedsville First Responder, Classic Cuts, Valu Pro, Jim’s Service and Webster’s Inn On Third Street, all in Reedsville.
Present first responders include, Melanie Hills, Tony Hills, Maureen Glasow, Debbie Bauknecht, Nicole Spindler, Jo Siebert, Amanda Rosner, Curt Biely, June Scheunemann. The First Responder team is set to make this the best annual dance yet. Get your tickets today!
